New Formula Milks

Released on 18/07/2008

NCT Press Statement

NEW FORMULA MILKS

Belinda Phipps, Chief Executive, NCT, says;  "The NCT is concerned that new brands of expensive formula milk with added ingredients may be confusing parents as to what their baby's needs are and what milks they should buy.

It is essential that parents who use formula milk receive clear and accurate information on the different types of milks, and their ingredients, so they can make informed choices as to how they feed their baby.

NCT wants companies to refer to clear clinical evidence on the safety and benefit of all new ingredients added to milks. It is unacceptable that ingredients in the milks are not made clear on the packets.

The NCT would like to see clearer labelling on all formula milks, including  any new milks. In addition, companies need to be careful not to introduce new product names that make claims by implication without sound evidence.”
